The amount of energy Laura has never ceases to amaze me.
At 51, raising two beautiful children, Laura teaches anywhere between 18 and 21 classes per week, and still manages to attend class herself 4-5 times per week. She swears by Bikram Yoga because she was cured of her Type 2 Diabetes, anxiety, and depression. I am in awe at the level of passion she has for life.
How long have been practicing yoga? 10 years.
What changes have you noticed in your practice? I have been cured from my Type 2 Diabetes, my anxiety & depression. My overall health and wellness have improved tremendously.
What is one main reason why you practice? I want to stay strong and healthy. Bikram Yoga helps me maintain my “youthfulness.”
What daily activities has yoga made a difference in? I teach Bikram yoga for an average of 18-21 classes a week. My yoga practice keeps me energetic! It gives me both the physical and mental stamina to endure.
How is your yoga practice contributing to the rest of your life? I am truly happy, calm, and at peace with my journey in life.
What is one main reason why you teach? It is very fulfilling to know that I have come to know my purpose in life. I am able to give back and share all that I receive from my yoga practice. I am passionate about helping others achieve a healthier state of being.
Do you have a “favorite posture?” My favorite postures are Standing Bow Pulling Pose, Standing Head to Knee, Triangle & Separate Leg Stretching.
“Least favorite?” My least favorite is Rabbit Pose.
What is your most memorable experience with yoga, either practicing or teaching? I have so many memorable experiences but one of my favorites is when I saw my student’s feet heal only after 7 days of doing yoga during her Intro Week! She had a rare foot disease that prevented her from wearing normal shoes for 20 years. She wore special shoes for most of her life because she had what she called, “elephant feet.” Her feet shrunk back to a normal size because of Bikram Yoga.
What has been your most difficult experience with your yoga practice? I injured my knee doing lunges several years ago. It really affected some of my postures. It was difficult to check my ego and back off in some positions. But it’s all part of the journey.
Do you have any other additional comments that you would like to mention? I was given a brand new life when I committed to Bikram Yoga. A life that I actually love & enjoy for which I’m very grateful for. I am forever thankful to Mr. Bikram Choudhury for our 26+2 Series.
