Wife, mother of three, survivor of breast cancer, determined yogi. These are all ways to describe Miss Evangeline, who has been practicing yoga for 2 1/2 years, and has practiced at BYF since its grand opening in 2014. Fitting yoga into her schedule, along with her children’s schedules, work, and a social life is a tough challenge for Evangeline but she manages to practice Bikram Yoga 3-4 times a week and just recently completed a 30 Day Challenge.
Evangeline received a major wake up call in 2008.
She was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, had a mastectomy performed, had chemotherapy and radiation therapy done. Due to the treatments, she could not raise her arms or lay on her stomach.
With a faithful Bikram Yoga practice, it’s as if nothing ever happened to her, not only physically, but mentally.
This is how yoga has changed her life:
“I feel great physically and mentally. I practice pretty regularly and hardly have any anxiety anymore, despite my workload being roughly eight hundred times harder. My focus is also so much better because the heat forces you to concentrate on what’s important – your postures and your breath.
I learned to ignore distractions around me because dwelling on them is a waste of energy, which is probably the best thing I’ve learned from the yoga!
Bikram Yoga has started to heal my body, but more importantly, Bikram Yoga has quieted my anxious mind and soothed my weathered soul.
This practice is a highly personal experience. We all suffer with our own unique struggles and hardships but we don’t have to let them defeat us!
I strongly recommend Bikram Yoga to anyone looking for relief or a chance to regain their health and well-being. Don’t take my word for it, because this experience is something you have to feel for yourself. I promise it will change your life; it has changed mine! I look forward to sharing my positive energy with you. See you in the hot room!”
